Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday August 29th 2001 "What Amir?" Tiffany asked gripping the phone tightly as she braced herself for bad news. He had just told her that his wife had awoken from her long coma and called him to her bedside frequently to look him in the eyes. She still didn't recognize him or remember their marriage. Tiffany glanced out of the window of her apartment overlooking Washington Square Park and saw the dark clouds of an approaching storm. "My advisor tell me to keep low profile until election in November," he said in his broken English. "Did he tell you not to see me anymore?" she asked knowing that the detective taking a picture of them on his veranda kissing had caused him a lot of bad publicity. "Yes he tell me this." "I knew he would say that." "Only till election is over. Then we see each other," he said. "By then maybe your wife will be well and we'll never see each other again," she said as the tears started to roll down her cheeks. "For this I have no answer." "You're married Amir. If only you had told me that you had a comatose wife none of this would had ever happened." "Then you never see me." "That's right, then I wouldn't have fallen in love" she said wondering is this would have changed her relationship with her estranged husband Skeeter. "My wife in coma many years. I never believe that she wake. I fall in love first minute I see your beautiful face", Amir said. "I don't know Amir. I don't know how much more I can handle. I mean the press publishing that picture of me has been the most humiliating thing I've ever been through." "I....how you say... apologize. My lawyer try to find who sell this photo." "It's too late now. Everyone's seen it," she said remembering the risqué photo. Her sundress was open revealing her bare bosom covered only by a blurry spot on the front page of all of the New York tabloids. "This all be over soon. People forget." "I hope so." "I don't know what I should do between now and November Amir." "I call you often. Maybe if press die down we see each other," he said hopefully. "I can't live on that Amir." "I only hope you wait for me." "It would surely help if I knew how long I would have to wait." "This I have no way to know." "Your wife might remember you tomorrow and then we'll never see each other again." "Tomorrow I have no knowledge, only today." "What should I do Amir? Do you want me to wait for you not knowing?" "This answer I leave to you. I have no right to ask for you to wait. I only tell you I love you. This I have no regret." "Tiffany come on we'll be late for the party," Starlene said rushing into the room in her low cut black evening dress. "I'll be right there," Tiffany said holding her hand over the phone and glancing up in disapproval at the skintight dress her young sister was wearing. "You go to party?" Amir asked having heard Starlene in the background. "Yes, the London Link TV Network has hired Clark and he's giving a party tonight so they can meet the reporters and media of New York. They want me to talk to them about our relationship. See what kind of horrible bind this puts me in with my job? I don't know what to say to them and I'll lose my job if I don't talk to them tonight." "Say whatever you feel in your heart," Amir said. "You mean that?" "Yes, my love. I understand pain I cause. I hold you back from nothing. I let you go. All my best," he said hanging up the phone. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE SOAP PHOTOS BELOW.
