Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday August 27^th 2001
"There's Amir on TV," Tiffany whispered as she glanced at the television across from her desk.
Clark quickly picked up the remote and turned up the volume on the news.
"Mr. Hada.  We understand that your wife recently awoke from her coma, is that right?" the reporter asked Amir as they stood in front of his Upper East Side mansion.
"Yes she wake up a few days ago," Amir said in his broken English.
"Did she remember anything?"
"She remember nothing yet," Amir said.
"Mr. Hada do you think you'll become our next mayor?"
"Yes," Amir said confidently.
"As you know Mr. Hada a tabloid newspaper published a picture of you kissing Miss Tiffany Diamond," the reporter said watching Amir's reaction as the camera zoomed in on his face.
"I believe the picture was taken over there," the reporter said pointing towards the veranda as the camera zoomed in on the now familiar outdoor lounge furniture where he and Tiffany had been photographed kissing.
"I am aware of photo," Amir said.
"Miss Diamond's dress had fallen down exposing her…" the reporter cleared his throat…."chest.".
"I am aware of photograph," Amir repeated.
"Mr. Hada can you explain how this could have happened?" the reporter asked as the camera once again zoomed in tightly on Amir's handsome face.
"Miss Diamond and I are friends," Amir said.
"Mr. Hada surely you can see how this would cause a sensation.  I mean Miss Diamond was almost completely exposed and you were kissing," the reporter said.
"This is how it appear," Amir said
"Are you lovers?"
"We are friends I tell you."
"So you are saying that you and Miss Diamond are only friends?"
"I have no more comment.  Miss Diamond is very nice lady," Amir said.
"Don't you think this has ruined your chances of becoming mayor?"
"Miss Diamond talk with me of my concern over my wife illness.  She comfort me and she is friend," Amir said.
"So you don't think this has ruined your chances of becoming Mayor?"
"I think this have nothing to do with job of Mayor.  Mayor run city.  Mayor is human.  This happen in...how you say... private home.  This never should be on newspaper."
"Okay.  Thank you Mr. Hada," the reporter said.  "Back to you in the studio Jane."
The picture changed from Amir's mansion to inside the television studios on Columbus Avenue.
"That was our exclusive coverage of the mayoral scandal.  Mr. Hada clearly doesn't see this as a reason to drop out of the race.  Matter of fact the poll numbers have just come in and Mr. Hada's numbers seem to be up. Now we'll go to our traffic report where we hear there are some serious tie-ups on the Williamsburg Bridge."
Clark picked up the remote and turned off the television.
"What do you think Tiffany?  Do you think he did a good job of explaining it to the public?"
"I don't know what to think Clark", she said thoughtfully.
"He didn't say much, but he didn't say anything negative about you Tiffany."
"Yeah I guess so."
"Personally I do think this has been a distraction from your work.  It's cost me money to pay you while you're involved rather than doing your job.  Billing has dropped.  Since you became involved with him, Jan has been angry and she took their business to another company.  It's a shame he didn't at least mention where you work so I could get a little free publicity.  It's not like I didn't warn you about this.  When do you think you'll be talking to him again? " Clark asked.
