Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday August 15^th 2001
"Mr. Hada's office", Amir's secretary answered.
"This is Stanley Morgan calling for Amir," Stanley said looking down at the front page of the tabloid newspaper on his desk. 
"Hold on please Mr. Morgan, I'll see if Mr. Hada is in his office."
Stanley looked at the picture of Tiffany and Amir kissing on the veranda of Amir's Upper East Side mansion.  He studied the outline around the blurry spot covering Tiffany's chest as her sundress had fallen open and around her waist revealing her bosom to the detective hired to get damaging photos of the mayoral candidate.  He thought about how many times he had tried to seduce Tiffany and had been refused.  He thought about the fact that she was probably already seeing Amir and didn't want anyone to know for fear that she would lose her job.
"Good morning Stanley," Amir said into the phone.
"Good morning Amir.  How is your wife?" Stanley asked.
"She remember nothing," Amir said in his broken English referring to his hospitalized wife that had only just come out of a coma of many years.
"It wouldn't be a good time for her to recognize you anyway would it?" Stanley said laughing slightly.
"I wish only she recover," Amir said failing to find humor in the remark.
"I guess the media has been camped out at your doorstep?" Stanley asked.
"Every step I take, they follow."
"Look Amir, I didn't know you and Tiffany were involved like this."
"Tiffany is very nice woman."
"Oh yeah. I see that you have been enjoying her," Stanley said glancing back at the picture.
"This newspaper... I try to find who take this picture."
"It's one of the other candidates behind it I'm sure."
"No privacy or respect for womans.  None," Amir said.
"It's all fair Amir.  You have to expect this kind of thing when you're a public figure.  Have you thought of dropping out of the race?"
"No.  I feel much how you say…disappointment.  I invest too much to stop fight because of this publicity."
"Well, how are you planning to handle this?"
"I have no decision.  My advisor say that I should make statement soon."
"What does Bailey want you to say?" Stanley asked referring to the advisor he had hired for Amir.
"I never say what he tells me."
"What does he say?"
"That Tiffany throw herself on me.  That she how you say…stalk me," Amir said.
"That would get you out of this," Stanley said.
"This be unfair to Tiffany."
"Are you in love with her Amir?"
"I care very much."
"But you're still married."
"Yes."
"If your wife died though, would you want to marry Tiffany?"
"Is premature to think this way."
"Then you think your wife might make a recovery?"
"Doctor say this possible."
"Then maybe you better drop Tiffany and do the right thing," Stanley said studying the picture of Tiffany and imagining what she must have looked like without the blurry spot imposed over her bosom in the photo.
