Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday July 6th 2001 Jan hung up the telephone after she didn't get an answer at Skeeter's apartment on Bleecker Street. Skeeter wasn't at home and he wasn't at work today. Her mind raced with suspicion. She wondered if he'd left her mansion this morning and gone to see Elizabeth Ford. Surely after the heated session they'd shared last night he wouldn't have enough passion left for the wealthy socialite that once was her Father's lover. She could remember too well how Elizabeth had handed Skeeter her card as they left her penthouse after the party the other night. She quickly dialed the number at Elizabeth's penthouse and listened to the phone ringing. Elizabeth picked up the ringing phone beside her bed bringing it to her ear as she answered Skeeter. "Yes please darling… hello"; Elizabeth said as she watched Skeeter leave her bed and walk towards the kitchen.. "You want another wine?" Skeeter repeated in his slow southern accent not realizing she had picked up the phone. "Hello…." Elizabeth said into the soundless phone shaking her head towards Skeeter as he walked towards her kitchen dressed only in his underwear. Jan slammed the phone down as anger raced through her body. She knew she had heard her lover's southern accent on the other end of the phone at Elizabeth's penthouse. She grabbed her purse and started towards her front door. "Miss Jan you want for me make you and Mistar Skeeter dinner this evening?" her housekeeper Ilona asked as Jan rushed passed her towards the front door. "No," Jan snapped slamming the door and walking out into the bright sunshine. She walked to the curb and held out her hand for a cab. A cab rushed towards the curb and slammed on its brakes. "Take me to Fifth Avenue at Trump Tower," Jan said getting into the cab and closing the door. "Which way do you want me to go? There's a lot of traffic this afternoon." the driver asked. "That's what you get paid to do, just drive. Don't ask me questions," Jan snapped. The driver hit the meter turning it on and then turned up the volume on the talk radio program he had been listening to. "Well I think the Mayor made a mistake making Amir Special Advisor to the city in the first place," said the male caller on the radio talk show. "Why?" the DJ asked. "Because Amir's a foreigner. We don't need foreigners coming in here and running the city," the caller said. "Well, when you get right down to it we're all foreigners. I mean look at Ellis Island. Amir did get his citizenship so that he could run for mayor and he has helped the economy of the city and the meat market district by opening his celebrity spa there," the announcer said. "Well, I'm not voting for him. I won't vote for any foreigner that shoves an American reporter around while he's running for mayor," the man said. "It was Amir's driver that shoved the reporter," the DJ said correcting the caller. "That was to distract attention from the two women that were standing there in those low cut dresses waiting to get picked up by Amir." "Now…now…let's call it the way it really was. Amir was there for Tiffany Diamond. The other woman is her sister Starlene…we all know that's Stanley Morgan's little cheesecake." "He's another one that ought to be run out of town. I mean that old man's got his daughter Jan who's older than that nineteen-year-old he's been taking to Gracie Mansion. The mayor shouldn't be having parties there with these kinds of characters in the mansion that the taxpayers are paying for, " the caller said. "Okay. Okay. Your opinion seems to run along the same lines as the hundred other calls I've gotten today. Seems Stanley Morgan's over at Gracie Mansion talking to the Mayor about this now. Maybe he's listening. We'll take another caller right after we check the weather. What's it going to be today?" "Hot…. It's going to be another scorcher in the Baked Apple," the weather reporter said. "I might want to go to Gracie Mansion," Jan said to the cab driver. "Make up your mind lady. Traffic's a nightmare, the city's crazy today and it's hot," he said turning down the volume on the radio as he swerved to miss a bus that pulled out in front of him.
Starlene applied more lip gloss as her cab neared Gracie Mansion. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE SOAP PICTURES BELOW.
