Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday June 21st 2001 "Jan, my car's outside", Stanley said to his daughter as he glanced towards the other side of the room where the photographer and Starlene waited for him at the Mayor's party at Gracie Mansion. "Skeeter can take me home. I don't need the car, Father," Jan said glancing towards Skeeter. "Right Skeeter?" Jan asked. "Sure," Skeeter said surprised that she would ask him in front of her wealthy Father. She had given him strict orders about his behavior at the party tonight. She told him he could stop by only on the condition that he pretend they only knew each other and that he was never to make any suggestion that they were lovers for fear of her Father's retribution. "I was going to ask Skeeter to escort me home," Elizabeth said hoping to have some time alone with the good looking southerner she had just met on the way into the party. "Jan take the car, I'll be here for at least another few hours. Starlene and I can escort Elizabeth home," Stanley said holding up one finger towards Starlene and the photographer as a gesture he would be there shortly. "I'm at the service of any one that needs an escort," Skeeter said in his slow southern accent happy with his new elevated role. "Then escort the ladies in my car," Stanley said. "I don't know…." Jan hesitated. She didn't want to be around Elizabeth after learning tonight that she had once been one of her Father's lovers. She was especially suspicious of Elizabeth's attention towards her secret lover Skeeter. "It sounds like a splendid idea. The three of us can have cocktails at my house," Elizabeth said. "Have a good evening" Stanley said taking Elizabeth's hand and kissing it before walking towards the other side of the room. "I hope you don't mind Jan?" Elizabeth asked. "Of course not," Jan lied. "Then let's split," Skeeter said in his slow southern accent following the two socialite women as they all walked towards the door of Gracie Mansion. The butler opened the doors of the mansion and they walked outside onto the sidewalk into the warm evening air. The driver of the limo opened the door and Jan slid in. Elizabeth glanced towards Skeeter and smiled before sliding into the back of the long white car. Skeeter got into the car and the driver closed the door. Skeeter poured two glasses of wine for the women from the bar and the driver closed the door and started the engine. The long white limo made it's way out of the gates of Gracie Mansion and into the traffic on East 86th Street in Yorkville. Skeeter poured himself a glass of vodka. "It's late in the evening. We don't want to trouble you," Jan said hoping that she and Skeeter could decline the after hours drinks with the wealthy Elizabeth. "No darling it's nothing. I've wanted to invite you over many times. After all, I've known your Father for years," Elizabeth said. "Unless you're too tired then Skeeter and I would understand," Elizabeth said glancing towards Skeeter as he sat closely beside her in the limo. "No. I'm not tired. I'd love to see your apartment," Jan said quickly as she noticed that Skeeter's hand was on the seat near Elizabeth's thigh. "I guess your Father didn't tell you where I live," Elizabeth said. "No, why would he?" Jan asked. "He spent a lot of time in my city apartment and we stayed often at my other properties," Elizabeth said laughing slightly. "Oh," Jan said. "You dated Stanley?" Skeeter asked. "Yes Stanley and I were lovers," Elizabeth said as a matter of fact. "He does get around," Skeeter said thinking how they left Stanley at the party being photographed with his nineteen-year-old sister in law Starlene. "Then I guess you can see how I feel about my Father's throwing himself away on that young gold digger," Jan said. "Jan, darling. You know the saying…. Everything's fair in love and war", Elizabeth said feeling weak all over as Skeeter's finger stroked her thigh inching gently up the slit of her evening dress. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
