Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday June 19th 2001
"I've never seen you at one of the Mayor's parties before Skeeter," Stanley Morgan said as he glanced around the living room of Gracie Mansion at the politicians and celebrities attending the Mayor's party.
"No sir, it's my first time to come to one of these," Skeeter said in his slow southern accent.
"What kind of business are you in?" Stanley asked glancing back towards the center of the room where a group of women were being photographed for a ladies society magazine. The older wealthy man  watched as his nineteen year old lover Starlene smiled for the cameras.  He noticed all of the men had stopped their conversation and watched intently.  The young blonde dressed in the low-cut red evening dress that barely covered her well-endowed bosom was stealing the show by posing seductively in front of the group of high society women.
"I'm in the lingerie business," Skeeter said glancing towards the center of the room and watching Starlene.  His estranged sister in law was certainly getting the attention she had longed for.
"Now that sounds like the kind of business I would enjoy," Stanley said as he turned to look at Skeeter.
"Yes sir.  It's a good business," Skeeter said.
"Do you work in a store?"
"Yeah I work in the new spa Manhattan Gold International," Skeeter said.
"You work in Amir's new spa?" Stanley asked remembering that Skeeter had been mentioned as a suspect in the shooting of Amir's bodyguard about a year ago.
"I don't know the man personally but yes I work in that building."
"I see.  What brings you to New York?"
"I was transferred here," Skeeter lied.
"I thought maybe you came here because your wife Tiffany moved here."
"No.  It's just a coincidence," he lied.
"Are you and Tiffany still married?"
"Yes, we're still married.  Why?" Skeeter asked suspecting for months that the older man had desires to be with his estranged wife.
"Just wondering.  Tiffany's a fine woman," Stanley said thinking about how many times he had tried to seduce her and never succeeded.  He wondered if perhaps Tiffany was still in love with her husband after meeting the handsome southerner.
"Yes, Tiffany and Starlene are both great gals," Skeeter said watching Starlene as the photographer walked with her away from the group of women and started taking pictures of her alone.
"You're right about that.  I mean look at Starlene.  She's all woman," Stanley said proudly.
"You're enjoying your relationship with my little sister in law huh?"
"Yes.  Starlene told you that we're friends?"
"She told me that you are more than friends," Skeeter said smiling knowingly.
"You can't blame me can you?"
"No.  Absolutely not.  Any man would want that," Skeeter said watching as she adjusted the thin straps on her gown as the photographer snapped pictures and men held their breath hoping a strap would break.
"Are you here with a date this evening?"
"No I didn't bring any one with me to the party.  I wanted to be free just in case I met someone," Skeeter said.
"Did you?"
"You mean meet somebody?" Skeeter asked.
"Yeah maybe," Skeeter answered coyly.
"Who?" Stanley asked glancing beside Skeeter and seeing his wealthy ex- lover Elizabeth Ford walking towards them.
"Skeeter darling, would you mind getting me a drink," Elizabeth Ford asked as she walked towards the two men.
"Any man in his right mind would do anything for you Liz," Skeeter said winking at Elizabeth.  He only met her a few minutes ago, but he had enough experience to know when a woman was ready. Stanley's daughter Jan quickly walked towards them.
