Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday June 15th 2001 "Father she's a tramp, you're making a fool of yourself and everyone sees it," Jan said. Her Father never flinched as he stood beside her on the veranda at Gracie Mansion overlooking the East River as the guests danced in the living room at the Mayor's celebrity party. "You've never liked even one of my girlfriends Jan," Stanley Morgan said remembering how his older daughter had humiliated every woman he'd ever been involved with. "Maybe you should find yourself a suitable woman that's your own age Father," Jan said. "You're just upset because I'm your Father and I have more fun than you do," Stanley said. "That's not true. I have a lot of men friends," Jan said turning to glance towards the guests in the living room as her eyes searched for Skeeter. She wondered why he hadn't arrived when he had been so anxious to attend the party. "Jan you're alone tonight and you're always alone. Why don't you let me find you someone," Stanley said thinking he could arrange a wealthy man for his daughter. "No thank you Father," she snapped. "I have plenty of suitors," she said suddenly remembering that she was supposed to tell the guard she was expecting Skeeter. "Stanley dear," an older wealthy woman said walking towards them with her daughter smiling as they approached him. "I'd like you to meet my daughter," the woman said as the thirty something daughter smiled hopefully. Jan quickly walked away into the crowded living room and made her way past the guests in evening attire as they sipped their champagne. She approached the entrance to the living room when she spotted the back of Starlene's low cut red dress. She could feel the tension increase as she watched the young blonde. She quickly noticed that Starlene was talking to Elizabeth Ford, the wealthy upstate socialite that she had just met tonight. She had been surprised to learn that Elizabeth had been out with her Father a few years ago. She wondered if her Father's women were comparing notes. She thought what a funny contrast they made, Starlene with her voluptuous bosom almost entirely exposed in the red evening dress and Elizabeth in her designer gown and Hope Diamond around her neck. Her humor vanished when Starlene stepped to the side and she saw Skeeter standing in front of Elizabeth smiling at the wealthy socialite. "Jan," Elizabeth said as she turned and saw the shock on Jan's face. "Jan I would like you to met my new friend, Skeeter Diamond," Elizabeth said. "We've met," Jan said dryly. "Oh really?" Elizabeth said watching Skeeter smile at Jan. "Yes Jan and I've met," Skeeter said winking at Jan as the women turned their attention towards Jan. "You naughty boy. You do get around," Elizabeth said. "A little," Skeeter said smiling coyly. "You know Scarlet and Jan?" Elizabeth asked surprised. "Starlene," Starlene corrected her in her thick southern accent. "Everyone knows Miss Scarlet" Jan said looking down her nose at her Father's young girlfriend. "How many times have you been on camera tonight?" Starlene asked feeling that she had earned her status as a celebrity. "Walking around Gracie Mansion half dressed isn't exactly putting you in the social register," Jan said. "There there… we can act like ladies tonight, I hope," Elizabeth said seeing the quick tension that threatened to explode between the two women. "Yeah. I just wanna have fun. Look, here comes Stanley. He wouldn't like it if we're fightin'. We're almost family now," Starlene said feeling dizzy from too much champagne. "You might sleep with my Father, but you'll never be any part of my family or my life," Jan said as she felt her Father's hand on her back. She glanced towards Skeeter and noticed the intense expression on his face. Skeeter quickly drank a full glass of Bourbon and sat the empty damp glass a little too hard on the antique mahogany table beside him as he cleared his throat. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
