Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Friday June 8th 2001 "Where's Amir?" Jan asked her Father glancing around the living room of Gracie Mansion. "He had to leave. The hospital called about his wife," Stanley Morgan said. "This won't help him," Jan whispered so the guests wouldn't hear her. "I know. It could be the end of him. You can't walk out of a party with the Governor and the Mayor." "Do you think he'll drop out of the race?" "He has to make a move up in the polls soon," Stanley said as they both turned their attention to the other side of the room where the photographers were gathered in a circle. The Mayor stepped forward in the crowd and tapped his water glass with a fork. The crowd in the room fell silent and looked towards the large marble table in front of the picture window overlooking the East River and esplanade. "I want to personally thank everyone for joining us here tonight to honor Amir Hada. Unfortunately Mr. Hada was called away for a family emergency. I believe there are a few of you here tonight that have supported Amir's campaign for mayor and you didn't get an opportunity to meet with him. I know you have issues that you will want the next mayor to address. I apologize for this unforeseen inconvenience. I can offer you Stanley Morgan, the ultimate insider and advisor to Mr. Hada. Stanley could you come forward please and say a few words," the Mayor said glancing around the room and seeing Stanley standing with his daughter Jan. "There's Stanley, he's with his daughter Jan tonight," the mayor said as everyone in the room applauded Stanley and Jan. "He's got his date here too," a well-dressed older man said from across the room as he stood next to Starlene in the long red low-cut evening dress. "Ah yes! Indeed Stanley does have his lovely young lady friend Starlene here with him tonight," the Mayor said as the photographer started flashing pictures of Starlene standing next to the Sheik and a group of older men. The Sheik's harem quickly backed away so as not to be photographed. The harem whispered and watched as Starlene turned from side to side smiling for the cameras. The thin red straps that barely covered her voluptuous bosom strained with her motions as she posed. The men's eyes were transfixed on the straps as the flashes of the cameras illuminated the room. Starlene rested her arms to her side and the cameras stopped flashing. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Stanley Morgan," the Mayor said as Stanley walked up to stand next to the Mayor. "Thank you all for coming this evening. I too apologize for the untimely emergency that Amir had to attend. I will be talking with Amir later this evening and I promise you that your interests will be addressed," Stanley said as the crowd applauded. Jan watched as the cameras flashed pictures of her Father as he walked towards Starlene. The Sheik and his harem watched as Stanley stood beside Starlene and the cameras once again started to flash. "There might be snow on the mountain but there's fire in his furnace," the Mayor said walking towards Jan seeing her discomfort over her Father's choice of dates. "He's making a fool of himself," Jan said. "He doesn't see it that way Jan. He doesn't hide his healthy appetite. He's just a normal man." "I'll show him," she said. "Let him enjoy himself Jan. He's getting older." "I've had enough of him. A Playbody model wasn't bad enough, now it's this southern gold digger. "She won't last, he always moves on sooner or later." "She's getting everything she wanted while she does last." "Walk over there and I'll introduce you to a few of the men that are single," the Mayor said feeling sorry for his wealthy single friend. "No thank you. I have a date he's just late arriving", Jan said taking her cell from her sequined purse and hitting speed dial. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
