Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday June 7th 2001 Skeeter opened the refrigerator door in his apartment on Bleecker Street and took out a can of beer. He popped the top on the beer can as he walked back into the living room and took a seat on his futon sofa. He listened as the water in the shower was turned off and the bathroom door opened. "You want a beer?" he yelled out wishing he could remember her name. "No. I better not. I'll have a few once I get to work," the young dark haired girl said as she walked towards his bedroom and picked up her jeans off the floor. "It's been fun," he said watching her step into her jeans and zip them. "Yeah. Are you coming in tonight?" she asked glancing towards the living room. "I don't know. I'll be back in there soon though. That's a great watering hole" he said referring to the nightclub on Bleecker Street where they had met late last night for the first time. "Do you always go out late like that?" "No I had a business meeting until around 12 last night," he said thinking about his evening at Jan's mansion before he came back to the village and went out. "Tie this would you?" she asked walking towards the futon and holding the tiny halter around her young bosom. She turned her back to him and he tied the straps of her halter. "Sure you don't want to come with me now? I can give you a burger on the house," she said walking to the chair and picking up her purse. She took a comb from her purse and started to comb her hair in the mirror hanging on the wall near the TV. "Turn that on would you?" he asked falling back on the futon and picking up his beer. "Amir Hada was seen leaving his party at Gracie Mansion earlier tonight," the reporter said on the television. "I hope you'll come over and I can show you where I live," the young girl said turning to look at Skeeter. "Shhh" he said picking up the remote and turning up the volume. Seeing the interest that Skeeter had in the television screen the young girl walked to the futon and took a seat on the edge next to Skeeter and watched the scene. "Dave did you find out why Amir would leave the company of the Mayor, the Governor and a roomful of important dignitaries tonight?" the reporter in the television studio asked the reporter outside of Gracie Mansion. "No. We're checking on this now. We do have some coverage of another guest arriving tonight," the reporter said as the tape started to roll. "Starlene! Starlene!" the reporter yelled out rushing towards the limousine as the door opened and Skeeter's young estranged sister in law stepped out in front of the cameras. "Hi It's so nice to see ya," Starlene said in her southern accent as the camera made its way from her smiling young face to the thin straps that barely covered her voluptuous bosom in the red evening dress. "Starlene, you look wonderful. Who are you with tonight?" the reporter asked. "Stanley Morgan," she said turning around so the cameraman could see the low cut back of her dress. "Does the Mayor know you're coming?" "I don't know I didn't speak to him today," she said. "Do you normally speak to the Mayor everyday?" "No comment," she said smiling coyly. Her hips swayed as she walked towards the front door of the Mayor's mansion. She turned and looked over her shoulder waving towards the camera. "That's some coverage," the reporter said as the screen went back to the reporter in the studio. "Wow, she's really makin' it big", Skeeter said in his southern accent smiling as he took a long sip of his beer and crushed the can. "Who's she?" "My sister in law," he said. "I didn't know you were married", the young girl said. "We have a clip of Jan Morgan coming up," the reporter said. "Here's my number," the young girl said writing her phone number on the back of a cocktail napkin from her purse and handing it to Skeeter. "Shhh," Skeeter said placing the napkin on the coffee table and turning up the volume as Jan appeared on the screen. "Who's she?" "A friend," he said glancing at his watch nervously as the young girl took her purse and walked towards his front door to leave. 'I have to run I'll be late for work Skeeter. I hope you call me," the girl said opening the door. "Nice meetin' you Baby," Skeeter said. He quickly turned up the volume on the TV as he sat on his futon. He watched the television screen intently as his wealthy secret lover Jan walked towards Gracie Mansion. Jan was there and so was his ex-sister-in-law Starlene, it was only fair that he should go too he thought throwing the remote on the coffee table after he heard the front door close.
