Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday May 1st 2001 "Starlene you really should spend your days looking for a job," Tiffany said as she followed her younger sister into the living room of her apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. She watched the bare foot Starlene take a seat on the sofa and pull her T-shirt down to cover her body. "A whole day and you didn't even get dressed," Tiffany said noticing that Starlene was only wearing the T-shirt and makeup. "I told you I was going through the newspaper looking for jobs," Starlene said picking up the newspaper from the coffee table and hoping it contained the help wanted section as she opened the fresh pages. "Did you know Stanley Morgan was in the building?" Tiffany asked after running into the wealthy socialite in the lobby of her building. "How would I know that Tiffany?" Starlene asked holding the newspaper in front of her face. "Did he come to the door?" "Honestly! Tiffany you really do give me the third degree. I told you I've been looking for a job in the papers," she said as her eyes focused on a picture of a young model posed on a motorcycle with her jeans unzipped. "Strange that Stanley would be in our building," Tiffany said suspiciously. "I don't know. Maybe he knows somebody that lives here," Starlene said trying to sound casual as she turned the page of the newspaper. "Maybe you're right. I confess I was worried that he might be up here with you," Tiffany admitted. "You're an old hen," Starlene said in her thick southern accent. "Yeah. I guess I am. If Stanley had just been up here with you he certainly wouldn't have asked me out to dinner," Tiffany said kicking off her high heels and putting her feet up on the coffee table. "He asked you out to dinner?" Starlene asked holding the newspaper to the side of her face so she could watch her sister answer the question. "Yeah," Tiffany said smiling. "Are you going?" "No." "Oh," Starlene said jerking the newspaper back in front of her face. She could feel her jaw tighten in anger. She had practically begged Stanley to take her to dinner or a drink tonight and many other nights. He had never once taken her out in public. The only time she had been seen with him was at Tiffany's office party. "He's such a lecherous old man. He wanted me to go for dinner, or drinks. He just won't be happy until I go out with him. I wish Laney knew how bad her old boyfriend behaves behind her back," Tiffany said picking up the remote to the television, turning it on and starting to flip through the channels. "Maybe he was just surprised to see you and trying to be nice," Starlene said "No. Believe me that old man wants to get me alone more than anything." "Have you ever let him have his way?" "He's cornered me a few times in the office when Clark was out," Tiffany admitted remembering her encounters with Jan's Father. "Did you like it?" "No. He's Clark's client and Jan's Father," Tiffany said with disgust. "Amir's Clark's client and Jan's boss," Starlene said reminding her older sister that her relationship with Amir wasn't guilt free. "Yeah. But Stanley's an old man." "He wasn't too old for Laney," Starlene said remembering Stanley's young Playbody model girlfriend that had moved to California. "Look what kind of girl Laney was too," Tiffany said. "I thought you liked Laney?" "I do but she was a model in Playbody Starlene. Speaking of modeling. Tell me more about those pictures that Skeeter had the photographer take of you," Tiffany said getting to the subject that had brought her home early from work today. CONTINUED TOMORROW.
