Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Monday April 16th 2001 Amir opened the door to Clark's townhouse near Washington Square Park as he heard his assistant Jan's angry words slurred by too many glasses of wine. "Amir and I are equals. He wouldn't have the building for his spa if it weren't for my Father. He won't have a chance running for political office if not for my Father and me. Amir needs me. I won't stand for him undermining me like this with that little lying…" Jan said pausing as Amir entered the hallway of Clark's business, Manhattan Party Planning.
"Amir! I was just talking about you," Jan said turning white faced to look at her boss as he walked towards her. "I hope I don't interrupt conversation," Amir said in his broken English. "Jan and I were just talking about the problems you are having with your wife coming to this country and her care," Clark said forcing a smile. "I appreciate this concern. Believe me many people only care to... how you say gossip. The press they cause many problem," Amir said. "Would you like a glass of wine Amir?" Clark said walking towards his most influential client and patting him on the shoulders. "Yes. Thank you very much for wine," Amir said as he and Clark walked towards the sofa. "What a surprise to see you here this afternoon," Jan said walking towards the sofa and taking a seat near her boss Amir. "I thought you were in a meeting with Celinda," Jan said glancing quickly towards Tiffany. She knew the publicity with Amir and the famous fashion designer had probably caused Tiffany a lot of pain. "Celinda go to Europe. I tell you this," he said frowning slightly as Jan poured wine in their glasses. "Must be too much of the grapes," she said laughing slightly hoping to cover her obvious jab at Tiffany. "How is everything going Amir?" Clark asked. "Business is very good. Life is difficult. My wife is very sick. She be sick many years. So many years I get used to it. But now in this country media make me look as evil husband that I live here and she stay in hospital in my country. This cause me great discomfort. America is great country. Many opportunities but most distressing are some people…some business people and most of media. It seems for some people it bring pleasure to make life unhappy for personal relationship and how you say…affair of heart. For this I find America not beautiful. America not beautiful for this, no way. I come here to apologize to Tiffany," he said looking towards Tiffany very seriously. "You don't have to apologize to me for anything," Tiffany said softly as she watched the pain on his face. She quickly glanced towards Jan and saw her staring at Amir with her mouth partially open as if in a daze. "I apologize that I beg you to dine with me and you listen to my problem. You never tell anyone of this pain. You are friend to me. I plan to ask you if perhaps your sister Starlene stay with my wife when she come to this country. I never ask you this question. I only talk of my problem. I cause you problem for your job and for this I am responsible. For this I apologize," he said looking Tiffany straight in the eyes. "It's okay Amir," she said smiling slightly. "Clark I hope I cause no problem for you?" Amir asked turning towards Clark. "No. No… no problem at all Amir," Clark said completely in shock that the wealthy Amir had made such a grand gesture to save a secretary. "Good. Then this is only thing that matter. For good person, never will anything bad happen as long as I live," Amir said picking up his glass of wine and taking a drink. "How nice of you Amir," Clark said smiling. "I owe Tiffany much for friendship. For loyalty and trust. This make real friend. In life only this matter, not money. Perhaps you allow me to…" Amir said glancing towards Tiffany. Jan placed her glass of wine on the table and cleared her throat loudly. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
