Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday April 12th 2001 "Would you like more wine?" Jan asked picking up the bottle from the coffee table at Clark's townhouse and refilling her glass. "No. I have to go uptown to talk to Harry and Phillip about their son's birthday party this afternoon. They're very uptight," Clark said. "About the party?" "The guest list, clowns, everything since the adoption," he said. "I can understand that…. I suppose," Jan said trying to understand. The telephone started to ring on Tiffany's desk and Clark quickly got up and rushed towards the ringing phone. "Manhattan Party Planning," he answered. "Clark, I hope I do not disturb you?" Amir asked in his broken English. "Oh no. It's always a pleasure to speak to you Amir. Jan and I were just having a glass of wine," Clark said glancing towards Jan and noticing she had overheard him and had looked up from the magazine she was reading. "Jan is there?" "Yes, you want to speak to her?" Clark asked thinking that Amir probably had called to speak to his assistant. "No. I call to speak to you. I wonder if you see report on television of my dinner with Tiffany?" Amir asked. Tiffany had called him at work almost in tears that Jan had brought a tape of the interview to Clark's office early this morning hoping to get Tiffany fired again. "Well, yes I did see that," Clark said holding his voice down hoping that Jan wouldn't listen any further. "I hope this will not cause problem for Tiffany. I ask her to meet me for dinner. She tell me no that this would cause problem for her job. I apologize if I cause problem for you or for Tiffany. I am responsible… I insist that she meet me for dinner. I have problem with my personal life that she advice me," he said. "I see," Clark said realizing he would have to rethink his plans to fire his assistant now. "Is this problem for her job?" "Well, no. I haven't talked to her yet. I have told Tiffany that she should never have relationships with clients. I did ask her not to do anything like this," Clark said glancing up and noticing that Jan was staring at him as she held the magazine open on her lap. "I beg you that this will not cause problem. She help me with my worry over my wife coming to states," Amir said with exhaustion in his voice. "Oh I see. Is your wife here now?" "No. Doctors call me and say she is too ill for trip. We wait. I plan to talk to Tiffany about…possible that her sister Starlene stay with my wife when she come home after hospital," Amir said hesitantly. "That's a great idea. I know Tiffany wants her sister to find a job and that would be great. Did she say that Starlene can do this?" Clark asked glancing up to see the questioning expression on Jan's face. "No we only talk. Nothing happen now anyway. We wait for call from hospital of her condition before plan is made for future care," Amir said. "I'm sorry Amir. I hope everything will be okay. Is there anything that I can do to help you out?" Clark asked feeling sorry for his wealthy client. "Please never allow my selfish act to cause problem for Tiffany at job. She is very thoughtful woman and this upset her that she cause you problem. This is only thing I ask for you," Amir said. "I understand. I don't foresee a problem," Clark said watching Jan throw the magazine on the table and frown as she quickly came to her feet. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
