Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday April 11th 2001 Tiffany opened the door and walked into the hallway of her apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. "Starlene, I'm home," she called to her younger sister over the sound of the television in the living room. "I'm in here," Starlene yelled quickly taking her feet off of the white sofa as she watched her older sister walk into the living room with a long face. She picked up the remote and muted the Oprah Show. "What are you doing home at lunch?" Starlene asked as Tiffany walked to the sofa and took a seat beside her. "I just had to get away from the office. The 'Snake' is at it again. Jan came by the office first thing this morning and brought a tape of the television reporter following me and Amir at the restaurant in Little Italy the other night." "You're kidding?" Starlene asked. "No. Then she and Clark left and were gone the entire morning. I called Amir and told him and he said he would talk to Clark so that hopefully he won't fire me again." "That's good." "Yeah, but I don't know if he'll get to speak to Clark or not. Amir had to meet the plane that was bringing his sick wife to New York." "Oh God. I can see how that would bother you." "Yeah. It's almost driven me crazy all morning, not knowing whether I would have a job or not." "Amir will take care of it Tiffany. He won't let her get you fired." "I don't know. She did it once. I just promised Clark that I hadn't been seeing Amir so that I could get my job back too." "Maybe you could make up a lie or something about why you were seeing Amir." "Like what Starlene?" "I know! Say that you and Amir were planning a party for Clark and you didn't want him to know it!" Starlene offered. "He'd never believe that," Tiffany said. "He might. When is his birthday?" "I don't know." "Well, tell him something like that…" Starlene said out of ideas. "It's an idea, but I don't think it would work. He'll probably fire me again and this time I don't think he would rehire me either. He's angry about this. I heard him telling Jan that I had lied to get rehired." "It's just a job. It's not the end of the world," Starlene said hoping to cheer her older sister. "I'm the only person in this apartment that has a job Starlene. Did you look for a work today?" "I looked through 'Stage Lights' but didn't see anything this week," Starlene said referring to the local weekly magazine casting for Broadway productions. "Starlene you have to find a job. You have to look for real jobs, not jobs as an actress. You don't have any experience as an actress. We can't afford this. You have to work. You can get a job as a waitress or something. You have to work. Especially if I'm going to be fired again," Tiffany said as the tears started to come to her eyes. "Okay. Okay. I'll see if I can find something soon. I promise I'll try hard," Starlene said thinking that she would call Stanley tomorrow and pressure him to get her a job modeling for Playbody as he had done for his former girlfriend before she went on to movies. She wondered if Stanley knew that his daughter Jan was trying to get Tiffany fired again. "Maybe Stanley Morgan could help you out." Starlene suggested. "I don't think so. He's Jan's Father and besides I don't like that dirty old man," Tiffany said. "Just an idea," Starlene said realizing that she would certainly have to be a lot more careful that Tiffany didn't find out about her relationship with Stanley. Having Tiffany out of work and around the apartment would certainly cramp her style. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
