Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday April 10th 2001 The front door of the townhouse shut and Tiffany watched as Jan and Clark walked out the front door whispering. Tiffany quickly walked towards the front window and glanced out watching Clark and Jan get into the back of Jan's waiting limo. She walked back to her desk and picked up the telephone dialing the number to Jan's office as she listened to the secretary answer. "Manhattan Gold International." "Could I please speak with Mr. Hada," Tiffany said as she noticed the quivering in her own voice. "May I ask who's calling?" the secretary asked. "Tiffany with Manhattan Party Planning". "One moment please I'll see if Mr. Hada is available," the secretary said hitting the hold button as the sounds of an old Beatles song "Hard Days Night" started to play into the phone. Tiffany glanced towards the window to be sure that Clark and Jan weren't in sight as she tapped the top of her desk with her long nails. "Tiffany. This how you say, most pleasant surprise," Amir said in his broken English. "Oh God Amir. I'm so glad you're there," she said as she felt the hot tears coming to her eyes. "There is problem?" "Jan came by this morning unexpectedly. She was waiting here when I came into work. She went upstairs to Clark's office with a VCR tape that she had brought in for him and it was a copy of the interview showing us coming out of the restaurant in Little Italy the other night," Tiffany said as her voice cracked. "She bring tape to Clark?" he asked surprised but not shocked that his assistant would go to such measures. "Yes. He's going to fire me again," Tiffany said glancing back towards the window to make sure that Clark and Jan didn't come back to the office for some reason. "No. She have other reason for this, I am certain," he said trying to reassure her of something he couldn't understand himself. "I'm sure he'll fire me again. I heard him say 'she lied to me again, right after I rehired her,' Tiffany said jumping when she saw a man walk near the window going towards the townhouse next door. "I call him." "Would you please Amir. I know he'll fire me." "Yes. I take care of this." "Good. Thank you. When do you think you'll call? He's gone downtown this morning with her." "This afternoon after I go to plane." "A plane? Is your wife coming today?" Tiffany asked. "Yes. I find out very late last night. Doctors plan that she arrive this evening and transport to hospital." "Oh. I didn't know this. You might not have time to call if you are meeting the plane…" Tiffany said feeling embarrassed that losing her job was more urgent to her than his comatose wife coming to the United States for medical care. "I promise you I call," he said as his secretary walked to the door of his office. "Mr. Hada, you have an urgent call on the other line," the secretary said. "I'll let you go. Thanks Amir," Tiffany said overhearing the secretary's words to her lover. "Everything work out," Amir said hanging up the phone. Tiffany hung up the phone and wiped the tears from her cheeks as she glanced nervously back towards the window. She wondered if he was right. She wondered if he would have time to save her from losing her job with the pressures of his wife's arrival today. She suddenly realized that once Amir's wife arrives today she wouldn't be able to see him anymore. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
