Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday March 28th 2001 Tiffany sat at her desk looking over the March invoices for Manhattan Party Planning when the front door of the townhouse on MacDougal Alley opened. "Hi Clark," she said as her boss walked in smiling carrying a newspaper. "Hi Tiffany," he said pausing to take off his jacket and throw it over the chair beside the door. "Have you seen today's newspaper?" he asked walking quickly towards her desk holding out the folded tabloid newspaper. "No. What's up?" she asked thinking it must be a positive write up about Amir's celebrity party that he handled at the Waldorf the other night. "See for yourself," he said tossing the newspaper on her desk. She glanced down and her mouth dropped open when she saw the picture of her younger sister Starlene standing between Stanley Morgan and the Mayor. Her eyes quickly read the headline "Beauty and the Beasts. The mayor and Stanley Morgan raise money for school libraries while Stanley raises eyebrows with a Georgia Peach." "Oh my God," Tiffany said looking up and smiling at Clark. "Yeah, looks like little Starlene might get a break in New York," Clark said turning and walking towards the staircase to go up to his office. "She hasn't seen it yet?' he asked stopping to turn back and look at Tiffany as she sat at her desk staring at the picture of her younger sister in the low cut evening dress between the two men. "No. I'm sure she hasn't or she would have certainly called me," Tiffany said. "I think you should call her," Clark said going up the stairs shaking his head in amazement. Tiffany looked down and quickly read through the article. The newspaper had featured very positive statements about Amir's affiliations with the mayor and his new position as Special Advisor for the City. The report had gone on to say that Stanley Morgan had donated two hundred fifty thousand dollars towards the new school libraries and listed names of other influential contributors. It only mentioned Starlene by first name and referred to her as a 'newcomer to New York City and another Broadway hopeful'. Tiffany reached for the ringing telephone on her desk as she studied the picture of her sister on the front page of the Manhattan Daily News. "Manhattan Party Planning," Tiffany answered. "Did you see it! Did you see my picture in the paper!" Starlene screamed into the telephone. "Yes. Clark just came in and showed it to me," Tiffany said laughing. "I'm on my way now Tiffany. I told you I could do it!" Starlene said. "That's pretty good Starlene!" "Pretty good? That's real good. I'll probably get calls from agents now." "Well, I don't know about that." "Well, I do. I know this is it. Now all the right people will have seen me. I'll get offered roles." "I still think you better look for a job Starlene," Tiffany said amused with her younger sister. "Listen to you, always negative. I'm on the front page of the newspaper in New York City and you think I better look for a job." "That doesn't pay the rent Starlene. You've been here three months and you haven't worked a day. You still better look for a job." "You're wrong. I'm not like you Tiffany. I'm working smart, not hard." "Well I'm getting paid today, what about you?" "I have an appointment at the Mayor's office," Starlene said confidently as she threw her clothes out of the closet onto the bed trying to decide which dress revealed just the right amount of cleavage.
