Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Wednesday March 14^th 2001
  Starlene sipped her drink as she kept her eyes glued to the front door of the China Room Club.
"Your friend the cameraman still out there honey?" the young man asked loudly over the blaring music as he sat beside her at the smoky bar.
"Yeah.  I see his camera and lights everytime someone opens the door," she said in her thick southern accent.
"So how did you meet Amir Hada?" he asked surprised that she had told him she just came from 'the Amir's' much talked about celebrity party at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
"My sister dates him."
"Wow.  What's her name?"
"Tiffany".
"Why isn't she here tonight?"
"Cause she's at Amir's Upper East Side mansion tonight".
"I don't guess you or your sister would ever be interested in a regular guy like me then?"
"Oh.  I'm not a celebrity yet," she laughed.
"Who did the cameraman say was coming tonight?"
"He said a famous rock star might come and I know one woman that will be coming soon."
"Anyone famous?"
"Kinda".
"Come on.  I bought you a drink.  The least you can do is tell me who's coming."
"Jan Morgan".
"Jan Morgan…let me think," he said scratching his head.  "I don't think I know her.  Who's that?"
"The daughter of Stanley Morgan, like Dahh", Starlene said shaking her head.
"Stanley Morgan….  You mean that old man that dates Laney the Playbody model?"
"Yeah.  But Stanley doesn't date her anymore she's moved away."
"Oh.  You know those people?"
"I'm Stanley's new girlfriend," she said tossing her long blonde hair away from her eyes.
"No kidding?" the stranger asked looking Starlene over from head to toe with renewed interest as his eyes settled on her bosom in the low cut red evening dress.
"No.  I'm not kidding."
"So you're meeting his daughter here?"
"No.  My ex-brother-in-law is on his way over.  We're still friends and I called him and told him about the party."
"So why aren't you with Stanley Morgan tonight instead of your ex-brother-in-law?"
"Because Stanley had to go out with the Mayor and some old guys in politics.  I want to have some fun and meet a famous rock star or something."
"You were at a party with the Mayor tonight?"
"Had my picture taken beside him with Stanley," she said smiling proudly.
"Wow.  Have you ever been out with the Mayor?
"Not yet.  He's married though and besides I've got Stanley.  If I add anymore guys it'll be a rock star next", she taking a sip of her drink.
"Wow, you've really been busy since you moved here from Georgia a few months ago."
"No grass growing under my feet," she said placing her glass on the bar and leaning forward towards the front door to see who came in when it opened.
"Maybe we could go out sometime?" he asked calculating his odds as he admired her cleavage as she leaned on the bar.
"Look!  There's Jan now," she said ignoring him as she watched Jan and Steve Goldstein walk in the front door. She hoped Skeeter would hurry and get here.  Jan's "better than anyone else" attitude might get an adjustment tonight, she thought.
