Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday March 13th 2001 Starlene listened as the phone rang in Skeeter's apartment on Bleecker Street. She was ready to give up after the fourth ring and hang up when she heard his voice on the other end of the phone. "Hello", Skeeter answered . "Hi Skeeter. Did I wake you up?" she asked wondering if her ex-brother-in-law had given up watching the events of the party on television and gone to sleep. "No I wasn't asleep. What's up?" he asked as Cynthia sat up on the bed to rub his bare shoulders as he talked on the phone. "Are you still watching "Go Gossip" on TV?" Starlene asked hoping he hadn't missed any of the events that had been broadcast from the party she had been attending. He had promised to tape the shows so that she could see herself on TV for the first time. "No. I got busy and quit watching," he said as Cynthia pulled on his shoulders trying to persuade him to give his full attention to her. "Oh. Cause the party's over at the Waldorf. And guess what?" Starlene asked excitedly. "What?" "The cameraman Phil with "Go Gossip" TV gave me a hot tip." "What?" "There's another big party at the China Room Club where rock stars show up and it might be on TV too! I thought you might want to know. He also said that Jan and that rich guy are going to be there. He said that's where some of the stars from MTV go late at night to be seen." "Oh really?" he asked. "Yeah. I was thinking maybe you might want to go over there," she said knowing that Jan was with a rich young man tonight at Amir's celebrity party. "Are you going?" "Yeah. I'm going. I didn't tell Tiffany though. So don't tell her that I called you." "Of course not. What's she doing? Is she going to be there?" "No. She's going home"; she lied not wanting her brother-in-law to know that his estranged wife was spending the night with Amir in his Upper East Side mansion. "Is it going to be on television?" he asked as Cynthia quickly stopped rubbing his shoulders and came closer to the phone to listen to the conversation. "Yeah. That's what Phil the cameraman said. He's taping it. Getting paid time and a half to tape this 'gig'," she said proud of the lingo she had picked up from her new friend in show business. "Who else is going over there?" Skeeter asked glancing towards Cynthia as she pulled the sheet around her body and came closer to him on the edge of the bed. "I'm not sure. Stanley's with the Mayor and some of those old political guys. I know he won't go. He's too old to go to a rock and roll place I guess." "I think I'll come over there," he said. "Great. I'll see ya there then." "Listen though Starlene. Do you have a date for this Club?" "No. I don't want to be stuck with anybody, you know. I mean a famous rock star might be there or something. I don't want a date. I thought I'd ride over with Phil. Never know who I might meet." "You aren't going to tell Jan that you told me this?", Skeeter asked. "Are you kidding? She'll die when she sees you there. Serves her right. Skeeter I gotta run. I see Phil walking out now," she said hanging up the phone. Skeeter hung up the phone and turned towards Cynthia. "Finish up here first?" she asked smiling as she threw the sheet away from her body and reclined on his bed. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
