Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday March 8th 2001 Stanley Morgan and the Mayor stood in the ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel near the area designated for media interviews lined with cameras and lights. "Mayor, this is Starlene. She's new in town from Georgia," Stanley Morgan said as Starlene approached the two men in her low cut evening dress extending her hand to the Mayor. "It's so nice to meet you. I've seen you on television so many times," Starlene said in her thick southern accent shaking the Mayor's hand as her heart raced with excitement. "Where are you from in Georgia, Scarlet?" the Mayor asked. "It's Starlene Mr. Mayor. Lillard….Lillard Georgia. It's right outside of Atlanta," Starlene said moving closer to the Mayor. "Excuse me, of course, Starlene. How do you like our city?" the Mayor asked. "Excuse me, Mr. Mayor we wondered if we could get us a few shots of you with Mr. Morgan for the next segment?" the television producer asked interrupting the conversation. "I guess so," the Mayor said turning towards Stanley. "Stanley…remember?" Starlene said touching the older wealthy man on the arm. "Okay," Stanley said nodding towards Starlene. Tiffany watched from the distance in amazement as her younger sister stood between Stanley Morgan and the Mayor as the cameras started to roll. "We have two of the most influential New Yorkers together here at the star studded celebrity party at the Waldorf Astoria this evening….The Mayor and Stanley Morgan", the announcer said as the camera turned towards them. "It's a special night with special friends. We owe thanks to our friend Stanley Morgan. He's done so much for the City of New York," the Mayor said smiling at Stanley as Starlene looked straight into the camera smiling eagerly. "I'm just pleased that Amir has decided to accept the position. This is good for the city of New York and good for business," Stanley said proud that the Mayor had just announced the appointment of his friend Amir to the position of Special Advisor for the City. "Uhmmm" Starlene said clearing her throat. "Who do we have here?" the interviewer asked putting the microphone to Starlene's young pretty face. "My name's Starlene," she said bringing her glossy full lips close to the microphone. "Starlene! You aren't from New York are you?" the interviewer asked. "I just moved here," she said in her thick southern accent. "Perfect! Now we can find out what kind of impression the city has made on a newcomer. Please tell the audience what you are doing in New York and what you think so far," the interviewer said holding the microphone towards a smiling Starlene. "I'm a model and actress and I love the city. Everyone has been super nice to me," Starlene said touching the microphone as she spoke remembering the words she had rehearsed so many times hoping for this opportunity. "Have you auditioned for any roles on Broadway yet?" "No not yet. I'm hoping though." "Maybe after tonight Starlene," the interviewer said as the Mayor and Stanley watched smiling. "Are you married Starlene?" "Not yet". "But you're hoping I guess", the interviewer said laughing. "There's a lot of hope too," she said laughing and touching Stanley on the arm. "Okay, well thank you Starlene, Mr. Mayor and Mr. Morgan," the interviewer said as the lights dimmed. "Is that it?" Stanley asked the interviewer. "Yeah that's enough to fill the segment," the interviewer said. "You mean that wasn't live?" Starlene asked the interviewer as the Mayor turned and walked away. "No we taped that in case we need more for the news tonight," the interviewer said. "Stanley you promised you'd be sure I get on television", Starlene whined hoping he would influence the producer that was starting to walk way. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
