Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Tuesday March 6th 2001 "You think this will be on television?" Starlene asked her older sister in her thick southern accent as she watched the cameras in the center of the ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. "I don't know," Tiffany said watching the other side of the room as the Mayor walked to the microphone on the stage. "First we want to thank Stanley Morgan for hosting this great party tonight," the Mayor said as everyone applauded and turned to look at Stanley. The lights flashed and the cameras turned in the direction of Stanley Morgan as he smiled. "Damn, I wish I were over there beside him now, maybe I'd be on TV", Starlene whispered watching Stanley nod his head towards the camera. "I think you'd be too late Starlene. He's got a young woman beside him already," Tiffany said watching the young blonde walk up beside Stanley and wave towards the camera with one hand as she snuggled in close to the older man. "Who's she?" Starlene asked shocked. After indulging the older man's advances she thought he surely would have helped her at least be seen on TV tonight. She couldn't believe Stanley had another woman. "One of Stanley's women", Tiffany said shrugging her shoulders. "Maybe I should walk over there now," Starlene said taking a step forward as Tiffany grabbed her arm. "Don't Starlene." "Since I've been Mayor the city really has been transformed. The crime rate is down. Times Square now has almost as many Disney stores as Florida," the Mayor said as the audience broke into applause. "The libraries are open again and we have plans to add libraries to every school," the Mayor said pausing for the audience to applaud his last remarks. "Thank you. There's more work to be done. Unfortunately I can't run for another term, although I've heard rumors that you want me to do just that," he said smiling and glancing around the room as the audience applauded again. "Since I won't be running for another term, I'll be adding new positions to insure that my legacy and good works are continued into this new millennium. I'm announcing tonight my decision to fill one of the key new positions to a man that's recently become an American citizen. A man's that been a real contributor to New York City with the opening of his great new celebrity spa Manhattan Gold International. I'm happy to announce I've chosen Amir Hada for the new post of Special Advisor for the City." The audience started to applaud as the camera turned towards Amir. "That Celinda just had to be on his arm again didn't she Tiffany?" Starlene said watching the grimace on her sister's face as she watched the fashion designer that was standing next to Amir. "He says there's nothing between them. It sure doesn't look that way though," Tiffany said hearing the crack of pain in her own voice. "Remember he gave you that rock though," Starlene said referring the large diamond and sapphire ring on Tiffany's hand. "Amir if you could please just say a few words," the Mayor said as Amir walked onto the stage towards the microphone. "Thank you very much", Amir said shaking the Mayor's hand as the flash from the cameras illuminated their faces. "For this I am very much honor." he said in his broken English. "Much honor. I bring more business from abroad to city. More money and job for New York. More money that open library in school as Mayor announce. More money make for gardens and for open more museum," he said pausing as the audience applauded wildly. "Amir will you be running for Mayor?" a man in the crowd called out. "For this I have no comment… how you say… at this time," Amir said smiling and walking off the stage as the cameras followed him and the Mayor. Tiffany and Starlene watched as Amir and the Mayor shook hands. Tiffany noticed Celinda standing near the stage talking with Jan Morgan. The television producer for "Go Gossip" approached Jan Morgan and lightly touched her on the arm. Jan and Celinda walked towards the lights and the area set up for interviews on the other side of the room as they talked with the producer that was escorting them. "They're getting ready to interview them. Maybe we should walk over there," Starlene said noticing that Tiffany had taken a step in their direction. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
