Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday March 1^st 2001
"Hello", Skeeter answered placing his beer can on the table beside the futon in his apartment on Bleecker Street as he answered his phone.
"Hey Skeeter.  How you doing?"  Starlene asked in her southern drawl.
"I'm great Starlene.  What are you up to?" he asked his former sister-in- law and friend.
"Getting ready to go to a party.  I was wondering if you could tell me how to get to the Waldorf from here?"
"I'm not sure.  I'd just take a cab.  I think all those places on the East Side are hard to get to from this side of town on the subway Starlene.  Why didn't you ask Tiffany?" he asked in his slow southern accent.
"I didn't want to.  She's working late at the office and I wanted her to think that I could do this on my own."
"What kinda party are you going to?"
"I thought you would have known about this party.  It's Stanley Morgan's party for all of these diplomats and stuff," she said proud to be on the guest list after bragging to Skeeter that she would soon be Stanley's girlfriend.
"I hadn't heard anything about it."
"I know Jan's going," she said wondering why Jan wouldn't have told him since he said that he was secretly seeing Stanley's daughter.
"Well, if it's her old man's party she wouldn't want me there.  I guess she's going though."
"I know she's going."  Starlene said knowledgeably.
"So the old man invited you?"
"No.  I called Clark while Tiffany was out of the office and he asked me to go.  I don't think Tiffany's too happy that I'll be there, but I'm going."
"Is that Amir guy going to be there?"
"Yep".
"Then I know Tiffany will be there."
"Oh sure.  She's just working late and I'm anxious to get over there before she comes anyway. One woman walking in alone will make more of an impression, you know."
"I guess just take a cab over there Starlene."
"Thanks Skeeter.  Turn on your TV and watch for me.  Clark said the TV gossip columnist will be there.  Do me a favor and tape it too.  I want to see what I look like my first time on television," she said excitedly.
"Okay.  I'll tape it for you Starlene.  I bet you'll knock em' all dead."
"Thanks Skeeter.  I guess I better go I want to be almost on time.  Not too early, so that I seem eager but I don't want to miss the cameras either"
"I'm turning on the TV now.  I'm watching for you," he said hanging up the phone.
Skeeter turned on the television set and flipped thorough several channels until he found the local gossip station. 
"We have another limo pulling up now.  We'll have to wait to see who's inside of this one," the host said as the camera spanned the entrance to the Waldorf Astoria.
"Do you have any idea why Stanley Morgan is giving this star studded party tonight?" the hostess in the studio asked the reporter on location in front of the Waldorf.
"As far as I know he wants to introduce his ambassador friends to the new clients of Amir's celebrity spa.  I guess when you've got as much money as Stanley Morgan you give a party for any reason you want," the cameraman said as the door to the long white limo opened next to him.
"Maybe we can find out more about the party now.  I see his daughter Jan Morgan has just arrived with her date," the host said.  The camera turned to Jan as she walked towards the entrance of the Waldorf Astoria in a long low cut sequined gown.  Skeeter took a step closer to the television to get a better look at the handsome young stranger that was escorting his secret lover tonight.
