"Tiffany, I'm home", Starlene called out as she walked into her older sister's apartment where she was living overlooking Washington Square Park.
"I'm in here," Tiffany said never getting up from the sofa.
"Sorry I was gone so long," Starlene said walking into the living room, tossing her coat on a chair and taking a seat across from her sister.
"You stayed at Skeeter's a long time Starlene," Tiffany said suspiciously.
"I called you.  I wish you had let me bring him over here."
"I don't want to see him anymore.  The last time I saw him we talked about a divorce.  The last thing I need is for him to be in this apartment and Amir come by," she said referring to her wealthy lover that had provided her with the large apartment.
"Yeah.  I understand that."
"Where's my ice cream?" Tiffany asked after waiting two hours for Starlene to get back from the corner.
"Ahhh…I forgot and left it in Skeeter's freezer. I'm so sorry.  I could go back over there and get it for you," she offered.
"Forget it.  What did the two of you talk about so long?"
"Old times back in Georgia, stuff like that," she lied.
"Did he ask about Amir?"
"Yeah, but I told him I didn't know anything about the two of you," she lied again.
"Did you ask him who he's seeing?"
"Yeah and he says he's still in love with you."
"He's full of it too.  Did you tell him I think he's seeing Jan?"
"No.  We didn't get into stuff like that," she lied.
"You sure did stay over there a long time."
"Yeah.  Well Skeeter and I always got along good.  What about you Tiffany? Are you feeling better now?  Did Amir call?" she said realizing she was supposed to bring home ice cream to cheer up her depressed sister.
"No.  He hasn't called.  I'm worried Starlene."
"Don't worry Tiffany.  I mean look at that big rock he put on your finger.  He loves you."
"Starlene a man as wealthy as Amir can buy a ring like this and it doesn't mean much.  He's a very wealthy man and he's been too busy for me lately.  I'm living in his apartment; this makes me very nervous.  Did you call around about jobs?" she asked hoping her sister would soon help out with the rent.
"Not today".
"Not today.  Not yesterday.  Honestly Starlene you've got to find a job."
"Alright. Don't start in on me again.  I'll get a job," Starlene said rolling her eyes.
"You have to…."  Tiffany said stopping in mid sentence and turning up the remote on the television.  Both women quickly turned their attention to the television and stared at a picture of Amir with a strange woman. The camera went back to the gossip reporter.
"It's been reported that the wealthy socialite builder Amir Hada has been seen around town with the cute young fashion designer Celinda.  She's designed clothes for a lot of the top stars of Europe and recently said perhaps she would move her line of clothes into his new celebrity spa.  Rumor has it that the fashion darling and the handsome mogul are a new pair.  Amir has kept a rather low profile since the news broke of his comatose wife back on his island home.  A man like the Amir can't be happy wed to a bedridden woman.  It will be interesting to see who he takes to Stanley Morgan's next party.  Speaking of play boys, since Mr. Morgan's Playbody model girlfriend moved to the West Coast it will be interesting to see who he has on his arm at his upcoming party.  Two very eligible New York men…we'll keep you posted.  We'll be right back," the announcer said as a commercial played for a local telephone company.
