"I really should be getting home Skeeter," Starlene said in her southern accent as she sat beside her estranged brother-in-law on his futon sofa in his apartment on Bleecker Street.
"Tiffany's apartment is only around the corner.  Want a beer or something before you leave?" he asked.
"Oh, okay", she said watching him get up and go into the kitchen.  She glanced around the apartment and noticed a woman's hat on top of the table near the front door.  She had seen J. Morgan on his caller ID when she used his phone earlier today to call her sister's apartment.  She just had to know if her sister's husband was seeing Jan Morgan.  Skeeter certainly was interested in her relationship with Jan's Father Stanley Morgan.  Tiffany had said several times that she suspected Skeeter was seeing Jan.  She even suspected that Jan had arranged to get her fired from her job.
"Here you go.  Finally you're old enough to drink," he said in his slow southern accent walking back into the living room from the kitchen handing her a can of beer.
"My age never stopped me though did it?" she said laughing and remembering the many times when she would visit Tiffany and him when they lived together in their mobile home in Georgia.  He had given her drinks before she was legally old enough to drink when Tiffany wasn't around.
"We've had some good times Starlene."
"Yeah, we sure have.  What you doing for fun these days Skeeter?"
"Not much".
"Oh come on.  You can tell me.  I see a woman's hat over there.  A good looking man like you ain't sitting home alone," she said laughing and taking a long drink from the can of beer.
"No.  I ain't sitting home.  Tiffany isn't wasting anytime why should I?"
"Who you seeing?"
"A few, but don't you dare tell her," he said patting his young sister-in-law on the leg.
"Never.  I told you my secrets about Stanley Morgan and I trust you not to tell Tiffany.  You can trust me.  Tiffany and I don't always get along that well anyway," she said reaching to sit the beer can on the coffee table and noticing his eyes on her cleavage in the low cut sweater.
"You sure you ain't going to tell her?"
"Promise."
"I've been seeing someone that works with Tiffany," he said smiling.
"Who?  Who?  Tell me…" she asked excitedly pretending not to have a clue.
"If you ever tell I'll swear you're lying."
"I'll never tell though."
"Jan".
"Get out of here!" she said trying to act surprised.
"Yeah.  See Tiffany ain't the only one with her hand in the money bag," he said proudly.
"Damn!  This is just too much.  I'm younger than you are and I'm seeing your new girlfriend's Father!"
"That's right."
"Are you in love with her?"
"I'm still in love with Tiffany."
"Well what's the relationship like with the two of you?" she asked thinking how much of a high-browed society queen Jan Morgan seemed to be.
"It's all a secret.  She doesn't want her old man to know or he'll cut off her money.  I kinda resent that I ain't high classed enough for her to take in public.  But I'm good enough for her bed."
"And I'm with her old man.  It's a small world.  Interesting…isn't it Skeeter?" she asked smiling as she picked up her beer can and raised it in a toast.
