The Rocky Horror Show Circle in the Square Theatre, 1633 Broadway at 50th Street. (212-239-6200), $30-$79.50. Tue-Fri 8 PM, Sat 5 PM and 9:45 PM, Sun 2 and 7 PM. This rock opera originally opened March 10th 1975 at the Belasco Theatre more than 25 years ago on Broadway. This macabre production with an extremely detailed set design involves the desires of transvestites and is a revamp of the movie "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" which established a massive cult following. Featuring "Let's do the Time Warp Again" this musical is directed by Christopher Ashley. Designed by David Rockwell, a first time Broadway Show design, who is known for designing restaurants such as Vong, Tatou and Planet Hollywood. The famous cast includes Dick Cavett, Joan Jett, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Lea De Laria, Jarrod Emick, Raul Esparza, Alice Ripley and Tom Hewitt as "Frank 'N' Furter". Music and Lyrics by Richard O'Brien, Choreographer Jerry Mitchell, Costumes David C. Woolard, Lighting Paul Gallo, Sound by Richard Fitzgerald, Musical Director Henry Aronson and the Orchestra: Doug Katsaros.
The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe Booth Theatre, 222 West 45th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue. 212-239-6200. $50 - $65, Tue - Sat 8 PM; Sat 2 PM; Sun 3PM; Lily Tomlin's Tony Award Winning Show is on Broadway again. This revival by Jane Wagner, who also directs, is about an eclectic collection of people doing some soul searching. Includes "Trudy the Bag Lady" and "Angus Angst". Lily Tomlin is the one star of this one woman show. This Broadway production originally premiered on Broadway September 26th 1985 wherein Lily Tomlin received the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play. Lighting by Ken Billington; Settings by Klara Zieglerova; Sound by Tom Clark and Mark Bennett.
Seussical Richard Rodgers Theatre, 226 West 46th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue. (212-307-4100). Tue-Sat 8 PM; Wed, Sat 2 PM; Sun 3 PM. $25-$85. Kevin Chamberlin and David Shiner star with Janine LaManna, Michele Pawk and Andrew Keenan-Bolger. Directed by Frank Galati ( "Ragtime" ). Kathleen Marshall, choreographer ( "Kiss Me Kate" ). The Costume Designer is William Ivey Long. Settings by Eugene Lee. Lighting by Natasha Katz. Ms. Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty wrote this one. This new musical is based upon the books of Dr. Seuss. IE. "The Butter Battle Book", "Horton Hears a Who", "Oh, The Places You'll Go" and others as well. It is designed to be enjoyed by both adults and children alike. Also starring, Erick Devine, Eddie Korbich, Alice Pleyton, Sharon Wilkins and Stuart Zagnit.
Stones In His Pockets - Previews March 23rd 2001; Opens April 1st. Golden Theatre, 252 W. 45th St. between Broadway and 8th Ave. 212-239-6200. $65, $45 & $30; Tue - Sat 8 PM; Wed & Sat 2 PM, Sun 3 PM. This award winning West End comedy by Marie Jones comes to Broadway. It is set in Ireland in a village during a Hollywood film production. Sean Campion and Conleth Hill play 15 different characters. The play won London's Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy! Ian McElhinney directs and is produced by Paul Elliot, Adam Kenwright, Pat Moylan, Ed and David Mirvish, and Emanuel Azenberg/Ira Pittelman. Design : Jack Kirwan. Lighting Design : James C. McFetridge. "Stones In His Pockets" originated in Belfast, where it won Best Production Irish Theatre Award; then on to the 1999 Edinburgh Festival where it was a big sell out hit. It continues to play full houses and sells out quickly.
The Tale of The Allergist's Wife Ethel Barrymore Theatre, 243 West 47th Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue. 212-239-6200. $30 - $70, Tue - Sat 8 PM; Wed & Sat 2 PM; Sun 3PM; Produced by Manhattan Theatre Club, this satire is some funny comedy starring Linda Lavin, who plays an Upper West Sider. Tony Roberts, Michele Lee co-star in this new play by Charles Busch, directed by Lynne Meadow. Lighting by Christopher Akerlind, Costumes Ann Roth, Settings Santo Loquasto and Sound by Bruce Ellman.
