Soap Opera "As The Mouse Moves" - Thursday February 15th 2001 "The roses are beautiful aren't they," Starlene said admiring the three dozen long stems red roses on the coffee table in her sister's apartment in Greenwich Village. "Yeah, but it still doesn't make up for Valentines Day," Tiffany said walking away from the window overlooking Washington Square Park and taking a seat on the sofa beside her sister. "It's just business," Starlene said seeing that Tiffany was still upset that Amir had gone to dinner with the fashion designer on Valentine's Day. "Last night was business, and then there's his sick wife too, remember?" "Yeah, but look at that ring Tiffany," Starlene said referring to the diamond and sapphire ring that Amir had given her for Christmas. "It's pretty Starlene but it doesn't keep me warm at night", Tiffany said glancing down at the three carat diamond ring on her finger. "It was only one night. He called and said he was sorry didn't he?" "Yeah but he's still a married man." "And you're still a married woman." "It's different, I told him before we became involved." "Come on Tiffany…what's the matter with you. You never went out with men like him in Georgia. You've never had it so good in your life. I mean look at this place," she said waving her hand towards the large living room in the luxury high-rise apartment overlooking Washington Square Park. "Starlene this isn't my apartment. That's the problem. I wish I were still in the apartment on Bleecker Street. At least I could better afford that place." "Well, tell Skeeter to leave and we'll move over there." "He won't leave." "We could move in with him." "I don't hardly think so," Tiffany said looking disgusted. "See you don't want Skeeter. You know you've got something far better now, money." "Starlene money isn't everything. And besides I think Skeeter's got a girlfriend." "So you two are separated." "Yeah, but that doesn't give him the right to walk all over my feelings." "Boy you really are in a mean mood today." "I have a reason to be," she said thinking about the fact she suspected her estranged husband was seeing Jan. "Are you still in love with Skeeter?" "No," she said trying to sound convincing. "Then why do you care?" "Starlene I think Skeeter's seeing Jan." "Jan? You mean Stanley's daughter?" she asked thinking about Stanley's visit with her in the apartment before Tiffany came home from work yesterday. "Yeah". "No way, get out of here!" "No. I really do. Jan does everything she can do make me think that. Besides I walked by his apartment back a few months ago and I think I saw her in his bedroom window." "Oh come on Tiffany. You're imagining things." "No. I don't think so Starlene. You know a woman just knows these things. I thought he was having an affair with my best friend Brenda back in Georgia when we first got married and I still believe he was." "Well, you might have been right about that." "What do you mean?" Tiffany asked shocked that Starlene might know something she didn't. "Oh. Nothing just that I heard some rumors. Forget all of that Tiffany. We're here now. We're in New York, girl!" "Yeah in an apartment we can't afford that doesn't belong to us. You're unemployed. My ex-husband's in my apartment with my mortal enemy. Amir's out with a wealthy fashion designer while I sit here waiting with some roses he sent. If you know anything please tell me Starlene." CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
