Tuesday February 6th 2001 "So you're Tiffany's younger sister Starlene," Jan said watching the young blonde bounce around in the tiny sequined halter-top as she pushed her chair towards the dining table at Arqua Restaurant. "Yeah. I would have known you were Stanley's daughter even if no one told me. You two look alike," Starlene said in her southern accent. She glanced around the restaurant and noticed that everyone seemed to be watching her. She quickly touched the corners of her mouth with her napkin hoping that her freshly applied lip-gloss wasn't smeared. "You think you see a resemblance?" Jan asked watching as her Father's eyes moved over Starlene's sequined halter top as she sat beside her Father. "Oh yeah. Can you tell that Tiffany and I are sisters?" Starlene asked looking towards Tiffany and noticing that her sister still hadn't smiled once this evening. "I can see it and hear it," Jan said. "Tiffany doesn't sound as southern anymore. She's been in the city so long now," Starlene said. "Oh yes, Tiffany's a sophisticated woman now," Jan said laughing. "So Starlene are you married?" "No. Not yet?" "Going to be an old maid?" Jan asked remembering that Tiffany had married Skeeter at a very young age. "Just haven't met the right fellow yet," Starlene said taking a sip of her martini and wishing she could order a Coke. "You mean you don't have boyfriends in Lillard?" Jan asked. "A few. There aren't that many single men there," Starlene said. "You don't come from a large family is that what you mean?" Jan asked laughing. "Oh gosh no. It's just me and Tiffany," she said glancing towards Tiffany and noticing that she was staring coldly at Jan. "Look who's here," Clark said pushing his chair back and standing as Laney approached their table. "There she is the hottest new movie star," Stanley said standing up to greet his Playbody model girlfriend as she approached the table wearing a tight short black wrap around cocktail dress. "Hello everyone. Oh this is great. I'm so glad you came too Starlene!" Laney said as Tiffany got up to move and allow Laney to sit beside Stanley. "You don't have to move Tiffany, I can sit beside Clark", Laney said taking a seat beside Tiffany's boss. "Really I can move Laney. Don't you want to sit beside Stanley at your going away party?" Tiffany asked disappointed that she wouldn't be getting away from Jan's Father's hands under the tablecloth. "Oh, no. That's okay. Stanley and I'll be sleeping together later. You can certainly sit by him," she said watching the waiter pour her a glass of champagne. "Ahhh and just to think you'll soon be in California and you won't have him anymore," Jan said taking a sip of her champagne. "I'll miss him too," Laney said blowing a kiss towards Jan's Father across the table. "And I'm sure he'll be here waiting for you", Jan said smiling as she glanced towards Starlene sitting beside her Father. "Of course I will," Stanley said. "Of course you will Father," Jan said laughing and making it very obvious as she glanced from Tiffany sitting on one side of her Father to Starlene on the other side of the older man. "I've never known you to be concerned about your Father's social life before Jan. Maybe you should spend more time worrying about your own," Laney said proud of her quick reply. "Now. Now," Stanley said scolding his young girlfriend. "I can certainly handle her Father. My love life shouldn't concern you Laney. It might concern a few others at this table, but if they looked after their affairs mine wouldn't be a concern to them either," Jan said smiling at Tiffany as she thought about her romp with Tiffany's estranged husband early this morning in her Upper East Side Mansion.
