NYC Restaurant Reviews - "As we graze it grows"


1 cup softened butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 1/3 cups uncooked rolled oats
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 package (12 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups nuts, chopped

Beat butter and sugar until creamy;  beat in eggs and vanilla.  Add flour, oats, baking soda and salt;  mix well.  Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.  For jumbo cookies spoon dough by half cupfuls onto greased cookie sheets.  Keep them well spaced and away from the edge of the pan as cookies spread while baking.  Pat cookies with hands into flat rounds, about 5 to 6 inches across.  Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 15 minutes, or until edges start to brown.  Cool on pan for first 5 minutes, then gently transfer to wire racks to cool completely.  Makes about 12 jumbo sized cookies.
