Tuesday December 5th 2000 Tiffany glanced at the clock on the television again. It was 9:20 PM and Skeeter still hadn't phoned her. She got up, walked into the kitchen, opened the refrigerator door and took out a Diet Coke. She saw the hamburger that she planned to take to his apartment to cook for dinner this evening. She wished she could have bought steak to celebrate their getting back together. Unemployed, she was lucky to scrape together enough to buy anything. It was so late now she thought that she would have to make burgers instead of his favorite casserole. She walked back into the living room as the phone started to ring. She placed her Coke on the table and picked up the phone. "Hello", she answered. "Tiffany. I miss you very much," Amir said in his broken English. "Hi Amir," she said trying to hide any emotion she might feel. She was still angry that he was married and didn't tell her before they became involved. "You still angry?" "Yes. Nothing has changed," she said noticing that she felt weak all over at the sound of his voice. "I come to you. We talk," he said. "No. I don't think so." "How I make you understand?" "You should have thought about that before Amir." "My wife in coma many years. I want to tell you…I don't know how." "I know now." "You change your mind." "You're married Amir. That changes everything for me." "She stay in coma so many years. I never feel married. I feel only how you say…obligation." "I'm sorry." "I come there and we talk," he said remembering her soft touch. "Not tonight". "You have another love?" "No, of course not," she lied. "Good I hope you wait for me." "Wait? She's been in a coma for years." "I wait only for you and the day we be together." "Amir this is very hard for me. You know I love you. I've lost my job over you. I've been humiliated over all of this." "No one know we are lovers. How you be. Humiliated?" "Seeing you on television with that woman at your party…that Princess." "That only for PR. Arranged for international purpose." "Yeah but it hurt. Even if no one knows that we have been lovers, it humiliated me." "You no work for Clark now. We tell world we are lovers," he suggested hopefully. "I'm still hoping that I'll get my job back. That wouldn't help any." "What can I do to convince you?" "Give me time, I guess. I have another call." "I let you go. I wait for you." He said blowing a kiss into the phone and hanging up. Tiffany hit the button on the phone so that the waiting call would come through. "Hello", she answered. "Hi Baby. I'm running a little late. I had to work. You want to meet me at the apartment in thirty minutes," Skeeter said softly in his slow southern accent as his eyes watched the bathroom door of the East Side mansion. "Okay. I'll see you there. Did you miss me Skeeter?" she asked hoping she had made the right decision to try and patch up their marriage. "Ya Baby," he said quietly as he heard Jan turn off the water in the shower. "I'll make us dinner," Tiffany said. "I had a big lunch. We'll just skip dinner. I don't want you to have to cook this late," he said still full from the stroganoff Jan's housekeeper had made. "You're so thoughtful Skeeter. I'll see ya soon," she said hanging up the phone. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
