Friday November 17th, 2000 Tiffany grabbed the ringing phone as her heart raced. She had just seen her lover Amir on television with a young princess on his arm at the opening party for his new celebrity spa, Manhattan Gold International. If that wasn't shocking enough she thought she had caught a glimpse of her estranged husband Skeeter in the background near Jan Morgan. "Hello", she answered breathlessly. "Did you see me on TV?" "Laney, I'm so glad you called," Tiffany said hoping to get inside information on the party. "Did you see me?" Stanley Morgan's young date asked into the phone. "Yes, yes. I saw you Laney." "How did I look?" "Great. You looked great. Laney, I'm so glad you called, who is that with Amir?" "Some princess. I don't know her. Her gown didn't look as good as mine either. I mean she's a princess and I think my gown looked better don't you?" "Yes. Much better. Laney, can you find out who that Princess is?" "I'll ask around. Look I called 'cause you need to come to the party," Laney said as her eyes roamed the room hoping she wasn't missing anything while she called her new friend. "I can't Laney. Clark fired me. It just wouldn't be right for me to show up now," she said as she wondered if she should take Laney up on her offer to get her into the party. "Yeah, but you know. I heard Clark arguing with his new assistant. I don't think it's working out with her. You might be able to get your job back." "He's got a new assistant?" Tiffany asked shocked. "Yeah. She's not that great looking either. He was so mad at her. He went into the kitchen and caught her almost totally undressed on the counter with the famous new chef that was hired for Amir's new spa. "What!" "Yeah. I think he fired her. She left crying and promising him it wouldn't happen again. It's really a mess though; all the food got burned. I mean famous movie stars walking around eating crisp burned shrimp. You wouldn't have let this happen. I think if you come over here, he'd hire you back on the spot." "Thanks for telling me Laney. I can't come over though; I'm not dressed and don't have anything to wear. Look Laney see if you can find out who this Princess is that's with Amir." "Yeah. I'll see if Stanley knows her." "One more thing. I think I saw someone I know on camera behind Jan." "That snake woman. She's been staring at me with those evil eyes all night," Laney said referring to her older wealthy lover's daughter Jan. "I think maybe my ex-husband is there," Tiffany said. "Your ex-husband!" she said as she spotted a Hollywood producer in the distance. "His name is Skeeter Diamond. Would you see if he's there? He's dark haired and nice looking. He has a southern accent. Just see if he's with Jan for me, would you?" "Sure. I'll watch. I wish you would come though. I really hate being here alone. I mean I'm with Stanley, but he's all busy with his old political cronies you know. Did you really like my dress?" "It looked great Laney. You really look wonderful," Tiffany said smiling as she remembered Laney in front of the television camera in the transparent clinging skin-toned back-less gown. There really wasn't anything left of Laney that the world hadn't seen. "Got to go. I see a high roller," Laney said as she watched the Hollywood producer walk into the ballroom entrance near the phones. "Thanks Laney. Call me back if you find out anything", Tiffany said as she listened to the phone being hung up hurriedly.
"Hi, I've been dying to talk to you Laney", a man said hanging up the phone next to her. As Laney turned to face the handsome man she watched his eyes stop at the cleavage of her low cut dress. "Are you a Casting Director?" she asked. "No, but I'm in the lingerie business. I'm looking for a model," the man said in his slow southern accent. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
