For years the Upper East Side of Manhattan has been one of the most desirable locations to live in New York City.
Top left picture is a corner on First Avenue in the 50's. This is very close to the United Nations.
Top right picture was also taken on First Avenue in the 50's. You see the Citicorp Building in the distance.
Need a lift to Roosevelt Island?... Take the tram
(center right picture).
Bottom right is Second Avenue in the 50's. It's easy to get around town by subway, bus or cab. However if you travel much further uptown on the East side along First and Second Avenues, it's a long walk to take the subway.
