Wednesday October 18th, 2000 "Did you see the newspaper", Clark asked Tiffany as she turned to walk out of his front door after returning the key. He wondered if that was why she was wearing sunglasses today, maybe she had been crying. He knew being fired yesterday had upset her but he suspected the newspaper report of Amir rushing home to assist his wife had been more upsetting to her. "Yes. You mean about Amir being married?" she asked trying to sound casual as she turned to face him in front of the doorway. She knew that he had fired her over his suspicions that she was seeing Amir. She certainly didn't want him to know how concerned she really was, but she hoped he would tell her it was a false report. "Yeah, what a shock", Clark said watching her disappointed expression. "You didn't know that Amir was married?" she said noticing that the word married was difficult for her to even say out loud. "No. He never told me anything about it. You didn't know either, I take it?" "No. Of course not. How would I know?" "I just thought maybe he might have mentioned it to you." "No, never." "I hope this doesn't interfere with the opening of the spa," Clark said worrying out loud. "I wouldn't think so," she said. "That would really hurt to lose that party now," Clark said worrying about the money his company would lose. "Yeah, I guess so," she said disgusted with his self centered motives. She heard a knock on the other side of the doorway and jumped slightly before moving to the side of the entrance for Clark to answer the door. "Come in", he said opening the door and motioning towards Jan. "I was in the neighborhood and thought I would stop by. My God did you see the newspapers?" Jan asked walking in the doorway before she noticed Tiffany standing to the side of the entrance. "Yeah, Tiffany and I were just talking about that," Clark said waving his hand towards Tiffany. "Hi Tiffany," Jan said smiling confused. Skeeter told her that Tiffany was fired yesterday afternoon; she wondered why she was here today. "Hi Jan, I was just leaving," Tiffany said starting to pick up her coat from the chair by the doorway. "Where are you going? Taking the day off?" she asked with a smile on her face. "Yeah, I guess you could say that," Tiffany said. "Tiffany is taking a little time off actually," Clark said realizing this was terribly uncomfortable for his ex-assistant. "Must be nice to have so much money you can just take off," Jan said taking off her white cashmere jacket and handing it to Clark. "I'm not working here anymore," Tiffany said stiffly. "Oh. Another job?" Jan asked. "Maybe". "Really where?" Jan asked wondering if this was pride or reality. "I'm looking around," Tiffany said. "I think Tiffany won't have any problem finding whatever she wants. Thanks for stopping by Tiffany"; Clark said opening the door. He knew Jan could be mean natured and Tiffany had certainly suffered enough. He may as well put an end to this conversation now. "Take care", Tiffany said walking out happy to be away from Jan. "Did you know anything about Amir having a wife?" she heard Clark ask Jan as the door closed quickly behind her and their voices started to fade. CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW.
