Friday September 29th, 2000 The front door to the townhouse shut as Clark left to go to his appointment on the Upper West Side. Tiffany kept her head down looking at the papers on her desk trying to avoid a confrontation with Jan as long as possible. Her eyes were burning from crying. Clark had threatened to fire her if she had any more bad press involving his clients. He had totally humiliated her by telling Jan that she had complained about her as soon as she walked in the door this afternoon. "Are you ready to listen to the CD's?" Jan asked tossing a few of them onto Tiffany's desk landing on the paper she was working on. "Sure" Tiffany said gathering the CD's and taking them to the other side of the room and putting one into the stereo. The music started to play as she walked back to her desk and took a seat. Jan had walked to the window in the living room and was looking out. "I don't like that one. We don't need Kenny G type music. The band is lively. This is just the backup for when they take breaks. This group would let the momentum die. What do you think?" "I think you're right", Tiffany said not really caring at all. "Put on another one," Jan said turning to watch Tiffany as she stood at the stereo next to the window. "Okay," Tiffany said getting back up from her chair and walking to the window near Jan to change the music. She fought not to allow Jan to know how annoyed she was that she didn't just change the music herself since she was standing next to it. The new CD started to play. "That's kinda' sexy, don't you think?" "Yeah," Tiffany said standing near the stereo looking down at the floor. "Do you want to continue to listen to this one?" "Yeah. We'll listen while we work on your job description", Jan said walking back to Tiffany's desk and taking a seat in the chair next to Tiffany's. "Come sit down. Do you know what a job description is Tiffany?" Jan said patting the top of the desk as she talked. "Of course I do," Tiffany said walking to her desk and taking her seat. "Good, then start writing and I'll see if you do", Jan said opening her attaché case and taking out her cell phone. Tiffany picked up a pen and wrote her name and the date on a piece of paper. She struggled not to cry. She promised herself if she didn't cry now she could have a big cry tonight when she got home. The last thing she wanted was to let Jan know how much she was upsetting her. She saw Jan hit a button on her cell phone and put it to her ear. "Hi Honey, it's me," Jan said. "I never get enough of you calling me Baby", Jan said laughing and pushing her hair from her eyes with her free hand enjoying that she was talking to Tiffany's husband Skeeter. Tiffany forced herself not to look up. She wondered if Jan was baiting her. She wondered who Jan was talking to. Skeeter was the only person she knew that called women 'Baby'. Usually it was women that he went to bed with that were honored with this title. "What do you want to do tonight?" Jan asked into the phone. Tiffany wrote down a couple of her daily duties as she pretended not to be listening to Jan talk. "I'm here in the village. I could stop by and then we could go to my place for dinner. You want to celebrate your promotion in the lingerie business tonight?" Tiffany couldn't help but look up at these words. Skeeter was in the lingerie business and she thought she had seen Jan in Skeeter's apartment window when she walked by several weeks ago. How could there be so many coincidences? "Okay, we'll have a quiet romantic dinner alone at my place afterwards", she said hanging up the cell phone. Tiffany quickly looked down at her job description she had attempted to write. She hated Jan Morgan more than anyone in the world. She wasn't about to give her the satisfaction of getting her fired. She would deal with Skeeter herself. She would confront Skeeter with her suspicions tonight. "How are we doing on your job description Tiffany? Is there anything wrong?" Jan said tapping on Tiffany's desk with her long manicured nails as she smiled broadly. CONTINUED MONDAY. MORE PHOTOS BELOW. More soaps at: WORLDWIDE LITERATURE TOP 100.
