Tuesday September 26th, 2000 "Tiffany I saw in the paper that all charges were cleared against Skeeter and that he hired the law firm Steinburg, Williams and Weinstein," Clark said. "Yeah," she said never looking up from her paperwork on her desk. She was still angry over the confrontation with Jan. Jan had told her that Clark said he was unhappy with her job performance. She wondered why Clark wouldn't tell her this instead of asking Jan to watch over her work while he was out of the office the other day. Now he expected her to talk about her personal life with him after he threatened her if her personal life affected her job. "Who's he suing? Amir?" "I don't know." "Did you talk to him about it?" "I asked him but he didn't have much to say. I guess it's his business," she said hoping that would put an end to this line of questioning. "If he sues Amir this could be really bad news for Manhattan Party Planning," he said watching her face closely. "You think so?" "Well, of course Tiffany. You work here and Amir's my number one client. Your estranged husband sues him because he was accused of shooting Amir's bodyguard. You know the media would talk about how you work here and that's how you met Amir. New clients will be afraid of bringing their business here," he said starting to get more concerned as he verbalized the possibilities. "I don't think so. I don't think there's anything I can do either. I didn't have anything to do with any of this." "It doesn't look that way though," he said taking a seat beside her desk. "I'm sorry if this worries you Clark. I truly am. Skeeter probably won't do anything so I wouldn't worry too much," she said realizing that she was probably more concerned than Clark would ever be. "This rumor of you and Amir won't die though." "You've never seen Amir and me together, not since that one time I went to the theater with him," she said putting her papers aside and looking him straight in the eyes. She hoped to settle this once and for all. "True, but that seems to have been enough to get all of this started. It was enough to make your husband so jealous that he was accused of shooting Amir's bodyguard." "Accused but he's been cleared now Clark. That's good news." "Tiffany you know Abdul wouldn't have been shot if Amir hadn't asked him to follow you around and protect you from Skeeter. You are involved in this." "Amir was just being nice. I explained to you how that happened. That he called here one day and I was crying because Skeeter had threatened me. He volunteered Abdul's services. That's all there is to this," she lied. "I've heard your story. This all looks bad on me though. My company is small. I could be big one day with the business that Amir and Jan's Father sends. I can't afford bad press. It's hard to get press, I sure don't need bad press", he said starting to feel angry. "Are you saying that you are unhappy with my job performance?" she asking getting straight to the point. "It could be a lot better," he said as his eyes narrowed. "That hurts Clark. I really work hard here and none of this has been my fault," she said wiping the tears from her cheeks. "You are as you are perceived." "Did you tell Jan to help me with the opening party for Manhattan Gold International?" she said hoping he would say it wasn't true. "Yeah". "Did you tell her that you might fire me?" CONTINUED TOMORROW. MORE PHOTOS BELOW. More soaps at: WORLDWIDE LITERATURE TOP 100.
